Clubs
Key Club
I have been a member of Key Club since Junior year. Key Club is a community service club in which it's members help out in community events and brainstorms for changes that would be helpful for community members.Through this club I experience one of the most satisfying and one of my favorite memories, this moment was Santa Night. It's a night in which the community gives away toys for young children.
REAP
REAP is a scholarship program offered to students who intent to pursue an education at a 4 year college. This program has helped me be motivated in getting good grades since all core classes passed with a 3.5 or 4 are rewarded with money which can later be used to pay for college expenses. I am grateful for this program because it helps the kids of field workers who are often are immigrants. Many times immigrants migrate to the United States to give their children better lives but this is not always possible because money is not abundant at home, but with the REAP program it makes it easier for me and other students to attend college.
National Spanish Honors Society
National Spanish Honors Society is a club in which I have had the opportunity of becoming a club officer. I have been involved in the club for 2 years. In this club I have been able to be a leader by organizing and leading meetings. Every year there is a News Paper day in which seniors sell news papers and give the profits to the children's hospital, this year finally I will have the opportunity to sell news papers and contribute in donating to a hospital that helps many children battling illnesses. I am also looking forward to maintain a GPA of 3.5 or higher to be able to get an honor cord from National Spanish Honor Society .
American Sign Language (ASL)
American Sign Language was a fun club, I was a member of this club during my junior year. I learned the ABC's in sign language. One day I aspire to learn ASL as a fluent language to be able to communicate with the hard of hearing community.
California Scholarship Federation
CSF has encouraged me to pass all my classes first time around and maintain a good grade point average as well as help improve my grade point average. As of now I have been a member of the California Scholarship Federation for 3 semesters. Through this club I aspire to get a honor cord at graduation.
Folkloric Dance
Folkloric Dance is a club that just begun to form this year, I was interested in joining this club because I am Mexican and this is a typical Mexican dance. My aunts and mother were folkloric dancers when they were teenagers, I wished to follow their steps. Also I have always enjoyed dancing although I am not a very good dancer.
Associated Student Body (ASB)
ASB is an elective class but a lot of out side of class hours go in to being part of ASB. Through ASB I learned how to participate in meetings and also learned how to be a leader. As a member of ASB I help organize school events and inform students of important events, among many other things.

Soccer
I grew up around soccer, my father played every Sunday when I was a little girl. We would watch soccer games on television all the time as a family and my brother has always been a soccer player. I had never played soccer until my sophomore year of high school. I had a lot of fun playing and dying at practices but I will admit I was not very good at the sport so that is why I only played one year.
Tennis
Tennis is not a popular sport around this area or in Lindsay High School but I deiced to give it a try because it looked fun and not too much running was needed to play the sport. When I joined the team I was clueless on what I was doing but slowly I learned and although I did not win a single match I had fun and meeting other girls from different schools was interesting. I think the hardest part of this sport was the heat.
Volunteering Services
SCICON
SCICON is a science camp in which six graders attend and learn science for a week. A group of high school juniors or seniors volunteer to look after the younger children. I volunteer to be a counselor my junior year in the month of September. I was also once there as a student myself. I do not recall much of my sixth-grade experience but my eleventh-grade experience as a counselor was amazing. Looking after kids was interesting. Every single one of them was their own unique person and they were extremely funny. During this week I was actually busy looking after the kids and I did not take the time to look up at the sky until the night before it was time to return and the view of the sky full of stars was breathtaking. The view of a starry night sky will be a sight I will never forget.
Helping One Women at a Time (HOW) Dinners
HOW is a fundraising organization that uses the money that is fundraised to donate to women who are having a difficult time such as battling cancer. I have helped serve dinner to the guests who are donating, I also help clean up.
Santa Night
Santa Night is an event hosted by the Lindsay Police Department for the community. Hot chocolate, Mexican Christmas punch, cookies, and cupcakes are available to all attendees. Toys are given out to all of the kids who show up to get a free toy. Seeing all of the kids with smiles on their face after they picked out a toy was a great feeling, the joy on the faces of all the kids made my volunteer experience be so memorable.
